There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not allowed. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, highlights 150 slots and 60 tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel compound that contains many amenities aside from the gambling den, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
